„DO CZYSTA” to wyjątkowa, przekrojowa wystawa poświęcona twórczości Mariny Abramović – działającej od około pięciu dekad wybitnej artystki, ikony performansu i niezwykłej postaci świata sztuki współczesnej.

Wystawa zorganizowana w CSW w Toruniu będzie odsłoną największej w Europie retrospektywy Mariny Abramović, zrealizowanej wspólnie z Moderna Museet w Sztokholmie, we współpracy z Muzeum Sztuki Współczesnej Louisiana w Humlebæk i Bundeskunsthalle w Bonn.

Polska będzie jedynym krajem w naszej części Europy, który uczestniczy w tym tournée. Na prezentowaną w Toruniu wystawę złoży się około 120 dzieł, począwszy od prac pochodzących z lat 60., na współczesnych realizacjach skończywszy. Organizatorzy zrekonstruują także niektóre performatywne akcje Abramović, które będą prezentowane na żywo podczas pokazu, tuż obok rysunków, obrazów, rzeźb, obiektów, fotografii, filmów wideo oraz elementów archiwalnych.

Międzynarodowy projekt „The Cleaner” pozwala europejskiej publiczności zapoznać się z szeroką twórczością Mariny Abramović, jak i wziąć aktywny udział w proponowanych przez nią działaniach, natomiast młodym artystom umożliwi unikalne szkolenie artystyczne i pracę z lokalnymi społecznościami.

Działania Mariny Abramović stały się ważnym fundamentem rozwoju sztuki współczesnej. Radykalna postawa twórcza, umiejętne postrzeganie przestrzeni świata i sztuki wyróżniają ją spośród ówczesnych środowisk twórczych, dając nieprzecenione źródło inspiracji dla artystów młodszego pokolenia. Przez cały okres swojej twórczości nawiązuje do najistotniejszych problemów współczesnego świata oraz wpływu jednostki na jego kształt.

HE CLEANER is a unique retrospective exhibition devoted to the work of Marina Abramović, an eminent artist active for almost five decades, an icon of performance art and a remarkable figure in contemporary world art.

The show staged by CoCA Toruń is going to be an edition of Marina Abramović’s biggest retrospective in Europe organised together with the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, in collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk and the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.

Poland is the only country in this part of Europe included in the tour. The exhibition to be presented in Toruń will comprise about 120 works, starting with pieces dating back to the 1960s, to present-day ones. Organisers will stage a reconstruction of some performance acts by Abramović, re-enacted live during the show, next to drawings, paintings, sculptures, objects, photographs, videos and archive materials.

The international project entitled The Cleaner provides European audiences with the opportunity to encounter Marina Abramović’s wide-ranging body of work, and to take active part in some actions prepared by the artist, while young artist get a unique chance to learn and work with local communities.

Marina Abramović’s work has become a major foundation for the development of contemporary art. A radical creative attitude, good perception of the world and art make her stand out among creative circles of the time, and provide an invaluable source of inspiration for young artists. She has always related to the most important problems of contemporary world and the way individuals can affect it.

This exceptional artist will appear at CoCA Toruń at the opening reception in March 2019.

Marina Abramović (b. 1946) – an intermedia artist of Serbian origin. In her work, she attempts to cross physical and psychological limits of the body, tests the possibilities of mind and the relationship between the artist and the audience. Her own body constitutes for her an instrument of creative actions, but is also a frequent subject matter of her pieces. Her actions require active participation of viewers. She has taken part in the most important exhibitions of world art; she lives and works in Germany, the Netherlands, and currently the US. In 2010 the Museum of Modern Art in New York staged Marina Abramović’s retrospective at which the artist presented her famous performance piece The Artist Is Present, recorded in the film Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present.
